Travelling Tips for New Year Holiday to Keep Healthy

It is the New Year now. In the New Year holiday, many people plan to have a travel outside to relax themselves. The weather in this holiday is so cold, so I will introduce some tips people should pay attention to in travelling.

Drink black tea one week in advance. Study found that drinking 500 ml of black tea every day one week before travel will stimulate the body to secrete 2-4 times of interferon more than usual, which can enhance the immune system and allow you not vulnerable virus caused by the common cold and hepatitis.

Prepare ample anti-hypoxia drugs. Irish researchers found that more than half of the passengers will have hypoxia symptom when they take planes. Hypoxia combined with dehydration, sedentariness and drying and other factors can induce a variety of diseases. So, it is suggested that travelers eat acetazolamide to increase the body’s oxygen metabolism two days before taking planes.

Eat protein before departure. According to the American Academy of Neurology’s theory, when people take vehicles, ear vestibule balance receptors in human body will stimulated and make people feel dizzy, nausea, vomiting and have other symptoms. Pennsylvania State University study shows that eating protein such as eggs and beef before takeoff could reduce nausea and other symptoms by 26%.

Drink bottled water outside. To travel in remote areas or underdeveloped countries, it is better not to the local water. Experts recommend you drink bottled water when traveling to avoid viruses and bacterial infection. Brushing teeth and cleaning contact lenses are better to use boiled water.

Remember to wash hands frequently. Experts think that washing hands frequently during travel is the best way to prevent various infections. If it is not convenient to wash hand, you can take a bottle of alcohol (content of 60% or more). In addition, do not touch poultry and wild birds, for they are highly susceptible to infectious diseases.

A Little Story About Lombok

The most famous place in Indonesia which is always crowded by foreign tourists is Bali. Almost everyone in the world know Bali and (believe it or not), many people think that Bali is the only tourist destination in Indonesia.

This is certainly not true. From year to year, Indonesia has developed more and more tourist attractions. One of the destination that has also been known since so many years ago is the Borobudur temple and Yogyakarta, the nearby city. And, another destination that have started popularized by the government of Indonesia is the island of Lombok. The last few years the island has also begun to frequently visited by foreign tourists.

Lombok Island is an island that is located right next to Bali Island (on the east side). So do not be surprised if Lombok has a culture and natural beauty that is similar to the island of Bali. The difference maybe only one, Lombok has not been touched by so many people. Many of the land and natural environment in Lombok is pristine. This is the advantage of Lombok.

One of the beaches which became the favorite of tourists who visited the island of Lombok is Tanjung Aan Bay Beach. This place has a very spectacular beaches. The color of the sand on the beaches are very white. This is very contrast with the gradient blue sea water. The beach here is surrounded by mountains and its location is very remote. The atmosphere here is very calm.

From a high place in Tanjung Aan Bay Beach you can take a look at the white sand, crashing waves, rows of palm trees and beautiful hills down there. What is also unique, there is a hill that resembled a turtle when viewed from a height.

Tanjung Aan Beach Bay visited by many people who want to do water sports, like swimming and snorkeling. There are also many tourists who come to fish and quite a lot of family coming too, just to sit relax by the sea.

Another fascinating place in Lombok is the 3 Gili Islands. Why is it called so? Because these group of island of Lombok has a 3 pieces of island that contain the word “Gili”. They are Gili Air, Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno.

The three islands are situated adjacent to each other in the northwest island of Lombok. The closest one to Lombok is Gili Air. After that Gili Meno, which is famous for having a large collection of rare birds from Indonesia and foreign countries.

Gili Trawangan Island is the most popular island among the three island. Facilities for tourists, such as small inns and restaurants is the most widely built here. The view in this small island is very beautiful, spectacular beaches with sparkling white sands. Most of the visitors are foreign tourists.

In addition to marine tourism, other tourist attractions on the island of Lombok is a mountain. If you or your family love mountain tours, you can have a visit to Mount Rinjani Tourism Park. The mountain is about 3,740 meters height and has a national park covering approximately 40,000 hectares.

Mount Rinjani is also famous for its giant volcanic crater measuring about 10 km wide. In the middle of the crater there is the lake that is named Segara Anak. The water that flows from this lake forms a very beautiful waterfall, flowing through a very steep cliff. In this lake there are a lot of carp and tilapia. No wonder if theres quite a lot of people who come here for fishing.

In addition to these objects, of course, Lombok still has many more advantages in tourism. Crafts, unique traditional houses, not to mention Cidomo, the traditional vehicles. For those of you who want to visit Lombok, theres no need to worry about accommodation. Many major international hotel chains are now opened in Lombok.

Traveling In Italy – Be Train Smart

Think about traveling in Italy and the mind immediately begins to reach for the airline timetables. Think again. Traveling to and around Italy by train is kinder to your bank account and kinder to the environment. The journey time from London Kings Cross on Eurostar takes just over two hours and costs around forty quid. When you take into account the time spent lolling around the airport, suddenly the train doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. Considering, also, the train has one tenth the impact on your carbon footprint compared to flying, everybody wins.

Once on the continent, there are three options for reaching your destination in Italy by train. The Artesia TGV arrives in Milan or Turin from Paris by late evening; the cost is GBP 30.30.

If you have a little extra time to spare and want to treat yourself to some stunning scenery at stunning speeds, the Lyria TGV will transport you to Zurich at 198 mph. The letters ‘TGV’ stand for ‘Trains a Grande Vitesse’, meaning, somewhat less grandly, ‘high speed train.’ The EuroCity pendolino train takes you in the morning through the Swiss Alps to Milan and from there make a connection to Florence, Venice, Naples or Rome. Alternatively, the Artesia sleeper train will carry you direct to Rome, Florence or Venice.

Want to see more of Italy? Milan to Turin or Genoa are short journeys. You can train from Venice or Verona to Siena or Pisa via Bologna. Further down the coast, zip across the country to Rome from Pescara or Naples. Curl around the west coast from Naples right down to the tip of the toe of Italy’s boot and cross the straits to Sicily on the boat train.

Hopping across the Straits of Messina to Sicily is an experience in itself. All trains get shunted onto the ferry for the half-hour crossing.

Sleeper trains have a range of carriages at a price to suit everyone. The couchettes are the cheapest, albeit less private. First Class couchettes have four berths and Second Class, six. They are mixed gender, although women traveling unaccompanied are allowed to book spaces in female-only accommodation. One does not undress at bedtime, but remains in regular clothing. There is one attendant for each pair of cars to convert the coach into it’s bedtime shape, provide pillows, sheets and blankets and to serve drinks and continental breakfast in the morning.

The more comfortable compartments in T25 and Standard Sleeper cars are carpeted and convert to a private sitting room for early evening and morning use. Each room has a washbasin and a bed fully made up. There is one attendant per car. Some of the longer routes, for instance from Milan to Naples, have luxury ‘Excelsior’ cars with one and two-bed compartments with en suite toilet and shower.

There are, of course, highways in Italy if that’s what you prefer. The minimum age for driving a car is 18, insurance is mandatory and traffic fines are on the spot and fierce. You may also be required to convince the authorities that you have written permission to drive the car if you cannot prove that you own it outright.
